Electric Odyssey

Custom Tattoo Shop

About Us

Electric Odyssey is a shop located in Calgary, Alberta – right in the heart of Inglewood.
Driven by the desire to do beautiful, custom tattoos, we have come together from diverse artistic backgrounds to establish this shop.

Electric Odyssey Tattoo began in late 2014, when Nikki Smith and Janelle Reithmeier became inspired to create a small, customer-focused and friendly custom tattoo shop. Over time, we have expanded, adding three more female artists to our team – each one of them with a distinctive style and different specialties.

Here at Electric Odyssey we strive to make your tattoo experience a positive one. Our shop and our artists are clean, professional, friendly, and exceptionally talented.

As we are a custom tattoo shop, our artists choose to collaborate with our clients, using their ideas and concepts to create a unique and original design for each tattoo – rather than copying or reproducing other works of art. Your tattoo from Electric Odyssey will be exclusively yours.
We would be honoured to tattoo you!

Awesome job on my tattoo, super friendly, I will be back again no doubt about that!

FAQ

Shop Rates and Deposits
Shop rates vary between $140.00/hour to $160.00/hour depending on the artist and the tattoo.

A $25 supply fee is added at the end of each session.

For any custom commission, which often require several hours of drawing time, we ask for a cash deposit. This is to affirm your commitment to receiving the tattoo we will spend time drawing for you, and to hold your appointment slot. This deposit will be put towards the cost of the last session of your tattoo. Please confirm with your individual artist how much your required cash deposit will be.

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Deposits are forfeit if you fail to show up for your tattoo session or fail to reschedule in less than 48 hours notice. Deposits are also forfeit if you change your ideas or tattoo plans after the consultation and after the artist has already spent time on your idea.
Walk-Ins, Age Policy, and Group Accomodations
Electric Odyssey Tattoo books clients via appointment only. We apologize for the disappointment.

We can recommend some shops in Calgary which take walk-ins!

Electric Odyssey Tattoo has a strict policy against tattooing under the age of eighteen, even with parental consent.

However, we would be honoured to tattoo you when you reach the age of majority!

As we are a smaller shop, and inundated with custom commissions, it is difficult for us to accommodate for groups of three or more.

We will consider these inquiries on a case-by-case basis, but please keep in mind that your group will need to be booked at a minimum of two-three months in advance with a cash deposit, or we may refer you to another shop in Calgary.
What is your current wait time?
Our available artists are currently booking out at a minimum of two to three months in advance.

Consultations can be booked sooner.
What is the best way to book a tattoo?
We book appointments via email only. This helps in keeping track of individual requests and processing them towards the right artists.

Which artist should I book with?
If you are certain about which artist you would like to book with, you may email them directly (can be found on each portfolio). If you are not entirely sure, you may send an inquiry to our general shop email (see Booking, Contact).

Here at Electric Odyssey, we are dedicated to placing each client with the right artist. Each of our artists will accept commissions on a suitability and style-specific basis.

For this reason, we cannot possibly accept each potential client’s requests. Regarding any commissions that we feel are not appropriate for our shop or available artists, we will often recommend you elsewhere.

Please also note that not every one of our artists are available for booking at any given time.
How big/where should my tattoo be?
We strive to provide quality tattoos that will look amazing in the long run. The size of your tattoo directly correlates with the amount of detail in the design, as ink does have the tendency to spread slightly over time.

If your tattoo contains too much detail for the desired size, we may have to reconstruct your idea to ensure it looks beautiful right away, but also stands up to the test of time!

As well, the location of you tattoo can affect its longevity. We do not tattoo fingers or certain parts of the foot, as ink in these areas will inevitably fade or spread.
Do you take cover-ups, re-works? Will you finish this tattoo?
We accept cover-ups and re-work projects on an individual case-by-case basis. Each project in this manner is subject to a different requirement of skill or artistic style, and may or may not be suitable for any of our artists. We may refer you to another artist or shop in Calgary that might be more ideal.

In some cases, it may even be in the best interest of the client to pursue laser removal, and we can advise you on this matter.

We will not generally finish tattoos that have been started by other artists.
How should I prepare for my tattoo session?
Get a good night’s sleep and eat a big breakfast! Getting tattooed hurts, but getting tattooed when you’re hungover and hungry hurts way more.

The better you feel before your tattoo, the better you’ll feel getting it.

Bring a drink and maybe a couple small snacks. Then just sit back and relax! It’ll be over before you know it.
How do I take care of my new tattoo?
After taking off your bandages after the amount of time prescribed by your tattoo artist, gently wash your tattoo with warm water and a plain unscented soap.

Do not submerge your tattoo, just let the water run over it, and pat it lightly to dry.

Beginning the day after you got tattooed, wash and moisturize your new tattoo twice a day until it is healed. (Only enough moisturizer to make your tattoo shiny, don’t over load it. No Vaseline.)

Healing typically takes 5-16 days. In that time, do not expose your fresh tattoo to pools or hot tubs (you will risk infection) and don’t over expose it to direct sunlight. Try to keep it clean and try not to rub it or scratch it. That includes not picking or scratching scabs, let them fall off naturally.

You will be provided with more detailed aftercare instructions after your appointment. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the shop and talk to your artist.
What is the best way to get to the shop?
The shop is located on 9th Ave SE (Inglewood) and 14th street, in Atlantic Plaza.

This plaza also contains the Fine Diner and Tail Blazers which are both right on 9th Ave. You’ll see the big blue Electric Odyssey Tattoo sign from the road. We are directly across from the small parking lot located within Atlantic Plaza for your convenience.

If you’re coming from downtown take 9th Ave straight there through Inglewood, if you’re coming from Deerfoot take the Blackfoot exit then your first left and the right again on 9th.

If you’re traveling by bus from downtown, both the #1 or the #305 East are usually pretty quick.
Are any of you sassy artists single?
No. ;P
